Within – Music

Within

Within is an emerging freak folk trio from Toronto whose first EP will be coming out this February. Their music is lyrical, intimate and idiosyncratic, merging the diverse musical backgrounds of the trio. Guitarist Chris Trotter also composes ambient, experimental electronica as Iderdown, lyricist/vocalist/pianist Judith Muster has background in choral and classical music, and Bassist Cory Kane is an alt-rocker. Their minimal music alternates between restrained structure and emphatic melodic complexity, underpinned by intricate lyrics that embrace these extremes. In haunting songs about desire, vulnerability and disenchantment, Within generates tension only to leave it unresolved.
